Doesn't grow fast but not slow. LOVE IT. Teeny bit noisy, but still great. (written by Jack, 7 y.o., owner of two AeroGardens constantly in use -- GREAT for kids, too). Might sill have 6 pods & not 7 but it grows more than 7 small plants would.
It's been very fun to watch, and the maintenance involved is minimal. I definitely wouldn't recommend this for someone living in a studio apartment. All in all this was a very worthwhile purchase for me. I couldn't resist buying this item when it was on a Lightning Deal for $120. I am thinking of getting another one to grow salad greens. All 6 pods have sprouted and are growing nicely. I have it set up in the kitchen, so it doesn't bother me, but in the bedroom or the living room it would be another story. It's very quiet - much quieter than I expected.
I've now had this AeroGarden with the herb kit planted for two weeks. Just need to add some water every few days and every 2 weeks add nutrient tablets that come with the herb kit. Some people have complained about the noise, but it hasn't bothered me at all. :-) The lights, on the other hand, are extremely bright.
I have had my areogarden for a little over a week now and my tomato seeds have already started to grow. For a full full review please check out [.].
Recently ordered the second system. After 2 months it's clear that I've got peppers instead. Also, I find it rather funny, the seeds which came with the system suppose to be tomatoes according to the labels on it. Great idea to have an automated garden during the winter. There is a slight problem though - noise, which is appears after couple of weeks and is noticeable even few rooms away. Overall, we enjoy the new toy. Ended up by cutting the internal air pump off and replacing it with the external Whisper pump for aquariums.
Everything is clearly labeled as "Ruby Heirloom tomato" but we're not exactly sure what variety of pepper we are actually growing. Plants sprouted nicely but after growing a few weeks we became suspicious about the appearance of the two plants. I contacted Aerogrow by email and they responded that they've never heard of this happening before and would send out a replacement seed kit (we'll see.). I purchased this as a gift for my husband to grow tomatoes over the winter. He set up as directed on Dec 4 and we waited. Directions are easy to follow. Very disappointing since my husband hates peppers. Mistakes happen and I hope we actually receive the new kit.
After sorting through the various models I choose the VeggiePro with Ruby Heirloom tomato seed kit. The leaves did not look anything like tomato plants. Meanwhile I have adopted the mystery plants which are growing nicely. Apparently we are growing pepper plants.
