Editorial Reviews:

The DC18SE has some of the same features as the DC18RA such as comprehensive charge status lights, cooling fan, and diagnostic lights. Since the electrical source for this charger is a 12V outlet, the charge time for Makitas 18V (3.0Ah) Lithium-Ion battery is 60 minutes. While this may seem high, please remember that automotive Ni-Cd/MH chargers take 90 minutes or more to charge an 18V (3.0Ah) Ni-MH battery.

User Comments about the Makita DC18SE 18 Volt Li-ion  Nickel Metal Hydride Optimum Automotive Charger

But it seems, I spend alot of time on the road so charging in my truck is far more convienient and safer from theift. See the product link from Makitas website for a true example of what the charger looks like ( [.]. This charger is definatly a good choice for workmen doing small repairs, punchlists or field troubleshooting. I am always on the road and I can't access a 120 volt outlet long enough to top off my batteries. The picture that is currently shown does not accurately depict the actual charger.

This charger is a +10 for people on the go. The Makita DC18SE is designed for anyone that needs to be able to charge their 18 Volt Makita LXT batteries from their PowePort or cigarette lighter in their automobile,Van or truck. Now it does take longer to charge a 18 LXT volt battery in the car charger than it does to charge at a 120 volt charger station but I just cannot leave my batteries at a josite long enough to get a full charge. ) Now my 18 volt flashlight is always ready and I can pull out my drill or metal cutting circular saw for some quick work and be on my way.
