Until now I have been using aluminum and plastic strainers. It's well made and I expect it will outlast those strainers I've used in the past. Once I started using the Cook Pro, I realised that this is the tool I should have started with. The steel mesh does an excellent job and cleans easily.
It's bright metal, solid construction and light. This colander works well. I've used it with spaghetti and beans. I store it inside another colander so it doesn't take up more space. It dries food much better than the metal saucer with holes I used before. However, because the support piece raises the colander about 1" high if I'm pouring a large amount of liquid I first put the food in a colander that is raised from the sink several inches then I pour the food in the mesh colander because otherwise the used liquid might rise above the level of the food and it would not be hygienic to mix the sink water with the food.I've used this colander for 9 days.
I just use the sprayer on my sink to get it clean. Really enjoy using this colander. Like that it is stainless steel. Would recommend this. The holes are very tiny and can be a little bit hard to clean.
I haven't actually used this a lot but when I have used it I have found it to be very useful. It also stack nicely in the cupboard with my other bowls. The mesh is fine enough to keep small things from slipping through and lets me wash things from all sides, not just the top as I do with my plastic one.
This is "EXACTLY" what I was looking for. Its lightweight, it cleans easily, its inexpensive, and I highly recommend it. The Colander is wire mesh so liquids don't have to find a hole on the lower sides or the bottom in order to drain (like with many other colanders).
