Deep side gullets for fast plug removalMilwaukee 49-56-9085 10-Piece Big Hawg Kit It seems like the drill does not have enough power but actually the motor is not getting enough power from the battery. Just a matter of matching the tool to the job. Battery charge times seem to be in line with the 30 minute claim by Bosch though these are really half size batteries like the ones that come on some Makita and Milwaukee drills. To get the most out of any cordless drill it pays to invest in modern hole cutters like the Blue Boar TCT or the Milwaukee Big Hawg or Bosch's own TCHS hole cutters.BLUE BOAR TSF12 12 Piece High Performance Tungsten Carbide Hole Saw kit 2-1/4" Cut Depth.
Would be nice if you could use "8" for a number 8 screw but that would be too easy. The charger is one of the more compact designs and this helps if you have a charging station to recharge multiple batteries at the end of the day. This Bosch is supposed to handle hole saws up to 1-1/2" diameter in hard woods which is reasonable if someone is using a auger or self-feed drill bit or a hole saw. For home use the lithium-ion battery will hold its charge for months making it a great tool for casual use where you can just pick it up and go. Same applies to hole saws.
The ratings overall are not uniformly performed much less independently verified so you really don't know where a drill will stall out until you give a try. Cordless Drills cut holes 3x as large versus bi-metal hole saws. Some day there will be smarter electronics but in the meantime it is a buyer beware situation.I have used the Bosch with a variety of tough jobs and but for the lack of a second side handle the drill did very well. Cut 10x as fast and using 1/40th the battery power. Use ΒΌ Torque of Hole Saw to Cut Twice As FastThe carry case is adequate like the Makita cases. For extended use or someone with small hands or working with gloves on this handle will make a difference in minimizing fatigue at the end of the day.Torque is excellent and appears to be close to the manufacturer's rating of 500 inch pounds. If a modern spade bit or even better a modern big gullet hole cutter (for many more holes per battery charge) a hole up to 4-5/8" diameter can be made in materials like MDF, plywood, and OSB. It takes experimentation to find the best setting with any screw and is a trial and error process.
The new handle design is very comfortable and even more comfortable than the Milwaukee 2601 which is excellent. The downside of all lithium-ion battery powered tools, and especially with drills is that the overload protection to keep the battery from bursting into flames (like the Sony batteries in all the Dell laptops) kicks in and cuts power to the drill motor and often it is hard to get even 75% of the theoretical power from a drill when driving large screws or using large hole saws. The Bosch is better than average in this respect, and much better than the Makita and Hitachi lithium-ion powered drills I have used. I used it to cut 7" holes in a 5/8" tongue and groove ceiling using one of the Hole Pro adjustable hole cutters and the high speed steel blades (swapped out the tungsten carbide set) and it worked great. The chuck is the smoothest I have yet to encounter in a hand drill - zero runout which I have never seen before in a hand drill (and few drill presses either).
These half size batteries save weight and are adequate for many people but if you plan to use the drill on decking or boring holes for insulation and similar jobs the full size batteries make more sense. The clutch works well and is easy to adjust. I cut out more than a dozen holes in under an hour.Hole Pro X-230 Kit: 1-7/8" to 9" Infinitely Adjustable Twin Blade Hole Saw Cutter 3" 4" 5" 6" 7" 8" 9" Hole Wood Sheetrock Plaster Fiberglass Plastic MDF Cement Board. Better though than the DeWalt and Hitach cases which look like the job was given to their most junior engineer to do.
Some room for spare bits and the like but not nearly as nice as the Milwaukee cases that are designed to hold everything neatly in recesses.
Quality product with batteries that appear to be much better than other top brands. The batteries charge fast also
the ratcheting operation of the bosch is entirely different. I thought i did not want a drill with a keyless chuck because i hated my old (age 10+-) dewalt cordless whose chuck frustrated me endlessly. think of the guy at the garage taking off and putting on the wheels on your car - very irritating and noisy. By the way, I originally ordered an impact driver even though i didn't know much about them. The keyless chuck is wonderful. I find the ergonomics to be excellent. i hated it, and sent it back. as suggested by another reviewer, the rubber bit holders are absolutely worthless, unless you don't mind bending over to pick up your stored bit off the ground every couple of minutes.
I purchase the cordless drill about a month ago and I am super happy with it. The batteries hold their charge well.I recommend this tool. I use it for work and personal projects. It is comfortable in my hand and well balance.
it took a little longer than we thought to receive but we are very happy with the product
