The clamp arm simply fits into a 3/8" hole in the top of the auxiliary fence, keeping it out of the way. Rockler Universal Fence Clamps came quicly and safely. Would use seller again. A clever device that is very useful.
These special clamps work perfect for me. This way when u can cut several pieces by bumping your board against the block and they won't bind against the fence after cutting it. I have only used them as a "bump block" with a scrap piece of mdf when crosscutting several pieces for cabinet rail and stile pieces. Put the clamped scrap of wood (maybe 3"x3") just before the blade against the fence, and make your cut using your standard crosscutting miter gauge.
