Definitely prolongs the life of your belts and discs, and allows a better quality finish. When I received this item I was a bit surprised by the giant size. It couldn't be easier to use, just hold it against the belt or disc with light pressure for a second or two until all the loaded material comes off. The price couldn't be beat, and frankly this was a terrific buy. It is literally a giant eraser, the loaded particles stick to this rubber material and are lifted off.
I have used this product several times on previously used 3"x21" sanding belts with good success. It cleans the residue off of the old belt and makes it useful again - definitely worth the money.
Though I use it on the downward side of the disc sander holding it an inch or so above the table so it doesn't snag between the disc and the table. I open the lid and then start the drum sander and lightly drag it across the abrasive on the drum. This product works well on my drum sander. Cleans it very well. It is cheaper than some of the name brands but works well. It also works well on my spindle sander and disc sander as well.
