I Liked the reviews that I had read, and the product seems to live up to expectations. I purchased an assortment of Mirka disks with the sander. The manufacturer has a good name, I am hoping for many, many years of dependable service from this machine. My first sander of this type. The "on board" dust collection was good, but I would recommend a dust mask for the operator.

I own 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 sheet and a couple of belt sanders of various brands. I have large hands and the grip seemed fine. It would be nice if the dust collection port was more easily attached to my shop vac (Rigid). My first project went well, the sand paper held up very well and the project was sanded to a fine, smooth finish with very little effort.

Even at a work bench where a vaccuum can be a attached, the opening inside the sander still clogs constantly. Not enough thought was given by Porter Cable on the dust port. The opening is entirely too small and requires constant cleaning out to avoid excessive dust in the air. NO MORE SANDING OUTSIDE IN THE WINTER. Porter Cable has a good reputation in the woodworking magazines I subscribe so I ponied up and spent the bucks for a sander. I purchased this sander to replace an old orbital sander(12 years old). I am very happy with the low profile sander. The Mirka sander paper/hook&loop is very convenient to use and lasts an acceptable amount of time. It provides an excellant finish,has low vibration,plenty of power over most of the variable speeds and is dustless(which my old sander was not).

The new sander work well and I now use it in place of my old Porter-Cable. It does now make your hand numb.

I own many Porter-Cable tools, this is everything the company said it would be. The fast stop alone, is worth the money, easy to control and very powerful.
