User Comments about the Streamlight 66318 MicroStream LED Pen Flashlight

Note the Stream Light Micro Stream is also very nice and as I said a lot brighter but also no where near the runtime but that's fine as it yields a beautiful bright clean beam, on this they did a great job.Burn time is usully a trade off for this brightness, but overall I like the light the build is very good but not great as I am picky, inova in my opin builds a better light top notch CNC machining on the inova lights in this price class so I'm deducting a star for this plus I do not feel the QC is being watched to close and I hope that someone from Stream Light sees my review as what they have done here is not acceptable in my opin, let me explain. I needed a quick replacement for my failed Inova X1 which I couldn't live without while its being replaced.First the light is smaller then my X1 and a lot brighter to boot as I have the version 2 of the X1 which would run on a single AA for over 10 hours, that was nice. Actually as i am also a FL collector it would be quite slick and more useful if it came with a nice stainless skeleton clip to accent the black body of the light. As for the clip scratching the light while changing the battery, just slip a business card in between and it will be fine, yes that is a small design flaw but not a big deal breaker in my opin.Any way I really feel that the clip it is shown with all over the net is the clip we should get with the light, and I wanted others to know this before they buy, and as I said maybe call or shoot the company an email saying we are not happy with this change and or err on there part at all. I hope others contact them so they send us or make the type of clip this should have. Ok my reason for buying the light was simple. The light comes with a lanyard however you can't really use it as they do not or no longer provide the correct clip, many images on the net including the image on Amazon show that the light has a skeleton clip that allows you to attach a ring and or lanyard to it, but the light you get now, as of me buying it in 2010 has a standard solid clip no holes to attach the included lanyard, now to me in this price class someone is asleep at the wheel. Please feel free to comment. They shouldn't send out this light with the wrong clip and it should be corrected I think I shall send them an e-mail as I want the correct clip I do not like this solid incorrect clip that they seem to be passing off.

I clicked quite a few times, with no results. The product packaging was likewise fine. Like the title indicates, my microstream flashlight was useless right out of the package. Shaking the light produces no sound of loose parts. I know that it's common to do this to prevent battery drain in the event of accidental activation, but it's an odd choice for packaging that's supposed to allow a customer to *test* the light before purchasing. After reversing the battery to the correct position, the light simply won't turn on. The shipment packaging was secure, with no scuffs. It's simply garbage.

To start, the battery was inserted backward (negative end first, contrary to both the battery replacement instructions written in the packaging and wrong according to the image on the interior of the battery tube). Interestingly, as I unscrewed the cap, the light briefly flared, only to die again.I changed the battery, thinking the first might have died somehow, but this didn't improve the results. It's simply dead on arrival. For something with an MSRP of $27, I expect more than a momentary flicker of light as I try to make the thing work. There's no indication at all that it was damaged during shipping.

A solid little job with, as yet, no downside. But it packs a punch for it's size and, even though I'm a loyal Maglite user from way back, I've got to admit that size-for-size this one has the competitor Maglites beaten hands down. It's a little smaller than I expected - in fact, it's tiny. Easy to hold (even in one's teeth). Recommended. and easy to use.

I recently purchased both this Streamlight 66318 MicroStream LED Pen Flashlight and Gerber 22-80012 Infinity Ultra Task LED Flashlight, Black.I much prefer the Streamlight to the Gerber Infinity: it is twice as bright; half as heavy; has a prettier white-blue type light; is about half the size; and uses a AAA batter as compared to a heavier AA.I think they're both equally durable and capable of taking a 20ft fall. Also only a buck more. This light is awesome.

At first I was skeptical because of its size. This little guy is so bright and well built. Best decision I have ever made. So I went ahead and purchased it. I have had a lot of different types of flashlights and the microStream flashlight is the best ever. I didn't think this little light would be so bright. Go ahead and purchase this flashlight you'll be amazed. I've read all the reviews and what was always mentioned was how bright this flashlight was.
