Editorial Reviews:

The DeWALT DW054 heavy-duty, 14.4-volt cordless impact driver is part of the DeWALT line of heavy-duty cordless impact drivers and wrenches. The DW054 delivers more torque, faster speed, and greater control in a package smaller than cordless drills. Deliv

User Comments about the Bare-Tool DEWALT DW054B 14.4-Volt Cordless Impact Driver (Tool Only, No Battery)

Love it, best and most used cordless tool I own. Just wish it was 18 volt for longer life.

This is a great little driver. Now I need to buy a driver/drill for the drilling, but it'll be nice to have both on hand. I beat the snot out of my 14.4 volt driver/drill, but still had two batteries and a couple of chargers, so I bought this "bare-bones." It's much lighter than the old one, and has a lot of oomph.

Havent had it long but it works great. But it works great for what it is. I thought it may use impact during drilling concrete but it doesnt. So if you think you have a combo driver, drill, and impact, forget it.

The LED light on the Makita is great for under counters with little or no light. The Makita feels better for all day use, is better designed. I bought both the Makita 12v and this DeWalt because I already had a set of 14.4 DeWalt tools. Replaceable brushes. The Makita drove just as hard and I thought much better when it needed to torque. Ergonomic angle is much better.

I have noticed that Mike Holmes of the Holmes on Homes DIY show uses nothing but this tool. like a pro. With this lighter tool, not so much. I have not used the 18 volt driver yet, but on the other hand I have never needed more power. I have a home repair business and have used this tool for several years.

With a few minutes practice anyone can drive any screw, bolt, nut, etc. I have yet to find something it won't drive or drill. Another asset is the size and weight. Lastly it's impact style of drive makes loosening stuck screws and nuts a little eaiser. The 18 volt DeWalt drill/driver gets heavy, especially when you are putting in drywall screws overhead.
