Considering my cost, I can live with these short-falls. First of all, I paid $39 for this item during a close-out sale at a local big-box retailer. Accordingly, my opinions are bias by my low cost. The unit is pretty good for drilling small (1" diameter or less) holes in wood. If I had paid full-price $99+, I would be very disappointed. However, the quill does have a slight wooble and the motor is weak.
Have only used it on wood projects so far, but it set up easily and works perfectly in my home shop. No complaints here -- nice little machine.
The instructions probably could have been clearer on a few things. The light is untested. Overall this machine has preformed exactly as I expected it to. I feel however that this is a fine drill press for small projects. It's nice and heavy so I didn't even worry about it tipping over as my initial uses where done without fastening down the unit.
I am a small time wood worker who turns pen and pencil on a lathe. Easy to use and built very well for a small bench press.Very satisfied with this amazing product. Black & Decker drill press works great for drilling the center holes. It has a 2 1/4 stroke which allows its to drill a hole without repositioning the blanks.
