Your Techni Ice is ready to use. Techni Ice Usage Tips-HDR Model Your techni ice sheets should start frozen and a gradual cold transfer will take place which slowly transfers the cold energy from techni ice into the perishables and drinks ,etc. which will eventually leave the Techni Ice cells in the softer state and the perishables and drinks icy cold for a long period . You will note that the Techni Ice cells still retain significant chill factor even in the eventual softer state.

User Comments about the Techni Ice HDR 4 Ply Reusable Ice & Heat Packs 6 Sheet Special

I didn't notice them being slimy, however, just a little damp. Being able to cut them into various sizes is nice. Price is right. They take a lot of work "scrunching" in water to fully hydrate, and they do leak slightly in use. Putting them in a plastic bag is one work around. After hydrating, if you squeeze them, you can see water squirting out some of the same little holes that let the water in.

Been using these for years. Great product Hydrate them and slip them into a food saver bag and seal it in. Protects them so they last longer and they will not soak up anything that might leak while in the coo;er.

With that caveat, I highly recommend this product. They stay cold for a long time, can be cut to fit your cooler. We purchased these at boat show previously and used with great success. TIP; however, do not use with ice. Arizona summers are HOT (120 F/48 C)and, out on the water these work great for the food where the cooler isn't being opened constantly (like the beer). When the hydrated sheets begin to thaw out and if they are in with ice they will continue to absorb moisture and will eventually pop the plastic.

Used 4 full sleeves lined in cooler and 2 across top since cold travels down. Buy ICE. Lasted 2 days buy themselves as recommended. Save your money.

The cut-to-size aspect is a great idea. Even after fully thawing and carefully washing to remove the slimy film, the gel coating returned with each use.Not the end of the world, since it's advertised as being non-toxic (and didn't seem to stain or have an odor), however it will get on your hands and the contents of your cooler and feel "icky". However, initially saturating them with water and "scrunching" to prepare them for freezing was time-consuming, and after freezing and thawing slightly, a slimy gel remained coating the surface (I'm guessing the coolant from inside the ice packs was coming out the same way the water initially got in).
