I purchased this to use with a Canon A710IS. I did try 2 batteries in the pocket and they can be force fit but it makes it too hard to remove the camera and also there is a lot of pressure on the lens assembly.The velcro closure works well, I don't know if the case is waterproof but usually if it is raining my raingear is covering the camera case anyway. It seems ideal, a snug fit, and with the camera on my belt can be carried around without thinking about it.The pocket is large enough for a spare memory card, but not for 2 extra batteries (I don't see this as a problem when using Sanyo Eneloop AA batteries).
Used it for a long time. The poket serves well, but the case always has the batteries to back you up.

I've bought a Nikon case in the past and I must admit that the quality was not as good as the Canon. I am currently using this case for my Canon SX120 and it is the perfect fit. The padding is great for light duty like for when your camera is stored away in your backpack. Also got a great deal on a brand new case cheaper than a generic case, or from the local camera store (saw these for $17.99 plus tax).Anyone looking for a genuine Canon case for their Canon SX1** should really consider picking one of these up. It protects the LCD screen and lens front and also has small storage for extra memory cards, etc.
