User Comments about the Blazer GB2001 Self-Igniting Butane Micro-Torch

In this position, glass pipettes can be polished very precisely. This torch has performed flawlessly in the year since I've used it. Purchased this for laboratory work, to fire-polish glass pipettes. Not only is it solidly built and compact, but it can be lit and stays lit until turned off (a must for hands-free operation). I am ordering another one for my other workstation. In addition, the unit can be used standing up (projecting a horizontal flame), or placed on its "back" with the nozzle pointing up, so that the flame is vertical.

If you're bright enough to read the directions on how to control the flame, it burns hotter and can be used anywhere a propane torch would be used. Also getting the Habachi going out on the boat on a rainy day presents ignition issues too. I highly recommend this. I've had one of these for 11 years now and use it at least 2 times a week. Couldn't be more pleased even having paid full retail.

It's great for soldering pipes in tight spaces, cutting nylon ropes, shortening shoe laces, tinning, melting lead, freeing rusted nuts, concerts, soldering wires, quick drying liquids, warming cans of stew, wax sealing bottles, lighting cigars in Florida humidity, fireworks, etc. In the years I've owned it, it only failed 2 times. Both times I had got the tip wet and the self igniter wouldn't work. I carry a Bic to resolve that, because sometimes soldering water pipe leaks under a vanity presents wetness issues.

I received mine with no butane in it, bought some locally and leaked out. It does not get hot enough to braze or weld but works great for anything else, like it works great for heating up screws, bolts and nuts to loosen rust, soldering, ect. tighten a screw on top of torch and was ok after that.

For lighting a fire at the campsite or fire pit the torch puts out beacoup BTUs, making it fun and easy. I like tools in general, precision ones in particular. I have had this torch for three months and am impressed with how useful it can be. This is not a toy, it is the real thing, use it accordingly. I use the torch to light several candles quickly, and sculpt the wax as needed.

Might be able to set dry leaves on fire if needed or possibly gas but little else. First use at a dinner this evening. Bought this for my creme brule desserts. Pitiful. Before purchasing fling your cash into a neaby trash can for equal effect to purchasing this item. Carmelized the sugar much like a bic lighter found in a rest stop parking lot.
