So far it works great. It tends to work loose after a while. Occasionally I need to make sure the valve knob screw is tight. I have had this torch for 9 months and put over 400g of butane thru it. I have used it for anything from lighting cigars to carmalizing creme brulee. Like any other tool you need to maintain it. It puts out an excellent adjustable flame and usally lights on the first try.
I purchased this Blazer GB-2001 micro-torch for use in my machine shop, soldering terminals onto ends of wires. I've used other micro-torches and this is by far the best.
I tried a couple of cheaper torches but they needed to be refilled too often and did not last. This one is worth the money.
In this position, glass pipettes can be polished very precisely. This torch has performed flawlessly in the year since I've used it. Purchased this for laboratory work, to fire-polish glass pipettes. Not only is it solidly built and compact, but it can be lit and stays lit until turned off (a must for hands-free operation). I am ordering another one for my other workstation. In addition, the unit can be used standing up (projecting a horizontal flame), or placed on its "back" with the nozzle pointing up, so that the flame is vertical.
If you're bright enough to read the directions on how to control the flame, it burns hotter and can be used anywhere a propane torch would be used. Also getting the Habachi going out on the boat on a rainy day presents ignition issues too. I highly recommend this. I've had one of these for 11 years now and use it at least 2 times a week. Couldn't be more pleased even having paid full retail.
It's great for soldering pipes in tight spaces, cutting nylon ropes, shortening shoe laces, tinning, melting lead, freeing rusted nuts, concerts, soldering wires, quick drying liquids, warming cans of stew, wax sealing bottles, lighting cigars in Florida humidity, fireworks, etc. In the years I've owned it, it only failed 2 times. Both times I had got the tip wet and the self igniter wouldn't work. I carry a Bic to resolve that, because sometimes soldering water pipe leaks under a vanity presents wetness issues.
