The screwdriver didn't work and wouldn't charge up. Dremel ships these thing with a slight charge so they should work out of the box. Its useful for light drilling into soft wood or metal. It's designed for close hand-held work.I thought the screwdriver was a useful plus but then I discovered it will also take 1/4" hex based drill bits. First set I was sent, the screwdriver was dead. Amazon makes it very easy to return.Been using the second set constantly for a hobby project. Oh, and it works great as a small powered screwdriver. Please note that this Dremel won't fit or use many of the attachments like the drive shaft, nor will it fit into the microvise or workstation.
I bought this a few months ago and it has been sitting unused for that length of time until yesterday when I did some repairs on my wood fence. It's charge didn't last as long as I needed it (two hours) but for the money and it's size I have no complaints. It had no problem driving the 1.5 inch screws.
The price was great. It comes with a lot of tools most of which will not be of use depending on what you want to use this for. And far superior to a regular driver for small work. The rotary tool is purely for very light jobs but is handy and does very well. I got this at a deep discount. Normal retail is plain a rip-off.The screw driver has more toque than I expected and while I would not use it for the kind of heavy duty work that I use a hammer drill for it seems to be pretty much as useful as my regular drill driver. Tool storage is inadequate to the point of being a pain.Overall a nice flexible set. Its great for assembling PCs and RAID disk arrays.
Best little tool I've used in years. Accessory kit also provides such diversity of uses that it was well worth the purchase price. Screw driver gets in places no cordless drill can with plenty of torque to drive the screws.
Most of the stuff I need it for is small stuff and the small and cordless nature of this tool makes it perfect. While I do have a drill/driver with adjustable torque, this little thing is just handy when I want to work quick or get into smaller spaces. which is really where it's power lies as it's a low torque machine. True it's not the standard Dremel and not as powerful, but then I don't need this for wood working. I like tinkering and modifying, but for some reason I just never owned a Dremel.
You have to let the speed do the work and not push down to make it "work better."The included driver is also a nice addition. It's probably a cost thing, but I was able to get it for a really good price and finally caved and got this set. When I'm done I just place it in its charger and it's ready to go next time. All in all it's a good set, but I probably wouldn't have gotten it if I had to pay $100 or more.As others have mentioned though, getting the Dremel 697-06 Accessory Kit Dremel 697-06 150-Piece Rotary Tool Super-Accessory Assortment is a nice addition to this. I must say for such a small device it can get very, very fast.
