This occurs more so than with other steel pocket screws I've used. None of the screws sheared off, but several rounded out with the #2 square drive. You either have to use shorter screws or back the pocket hole jig back an additional 3/8". In soft ACQ wood, these screw will come out the other side of your joint. These were good screws for joining ACQ (requires stainless fasteners) 2" x 4"s with pocket holes. They did screw into the wood effortlessly. I have seen this in hardwood, but it is a concern in ACQ woods.Overall they made a strong pocket joint with ACQ lumber. My only real complaint is the setting Kreg specifies for mounting the pocket hole jig.
