The bubble level is also questionable. The price was right, but it seems that not a lot of thought went into making the laser level tool. The laser line is well projected but it's difficult to keep the tool in place once you decide where you want to level things off. It is awkward to read and I feel that it's off.I've used the stud finder once with some success so it appears to be a bit better performing than the laser level tool.If you purchase, be prepared to spend some time getting used the quirkiness of the laser level. The adhesive pads are disposable and if you don't use them this thing will slide off course easily.
just don't trust whether it's level with the viewing bubble. The studfinder works unenthusiastically and the laser level is not even level. However, sometimes you need to know where a stud is and you can approximate it with this tool. mine is off by about 10 degrees. You also sometimes might have the need to draw a line and the laser does that well.
The product arrived in a very timely manner and was exactly what I exspected, a good buy for the money
there needs to be a good housekeeping seal of approval on tools. the bubble level was not even close to accurate. it is about 95% accurate now. my two star rating is quite generous actually. so basically the bubble level's are not even close to being accurate and when the unit is placed on a level surface, the laser doesnt project a perfect vertical line. out of the package my laser was obviously not projecting a vertical line. it rates up there with a tape measure i purchased at one of those discount tool stores that didnt even lock the tape when engaging the lock switch. i guess the majority of the blame should be on the quality control of the non-americans assembling these things.
oh well. if i owned a tool company i would never associate my name with this tool. whatever. don't spend more than two dollars on this embarrassingly poor excuse for a tool. anyway, the laser has a plastic prism that was visibly crooked so i had to scrape away some of the glue that was lodged in the slot and make it true. i bought just the straight-line 120 laser level and i must say that the design and assembly of the product is not so good.
the bubble levels are glued into a plastic frame that cannot be messed with. its not even worth the gasoline it takes to return the thing. you would think something like a laser level would actually be a no-brainer accurate device but it is simply one of the worst tools i have ever purchased. it belongs in the discount bin at a dollar store. i disassembled the level since i got it for so cheap that i did not care if i couldn't put it back together. but since i am the kind of guy that can make it work, i will need to level a surface with my old school level and place a shim underneath the laser level to allow it to project a somewhat vertical line.
instead of being called the "straight-line laser level" it should be called the "crooked line laser not even close to level." thanks for reading my rant about one of the worst products ever to come out of china aside from the lead-painted toys and melamine milk powder and antifreeze toothpaste and so on and so on. i got it for a ridiculously low price so i will once again submit to the stupid way of doing things around the house.
According to my hub, this is a good product and he is a handy man. Hope this help.
