After plenty of trips to the big box stores I decided that the Makita was the way to go because of battery life, ballance, and weight of the tool. I am in that same situation again with Makita. When I bought my Dewalt tools many years ago I couldnt see at the time how they could improve on the quality of the tools. I bought this combo kit to replace my 18 volt Dewalt combo kit because the batteries were not holding up and I didn't want to spend the money on new batteries. I have only used it for a couple of projects but I could tell it out performed my old tools hands down. Looking forward to my next purchase in 5-8 years to see the changes again.Dave I hope it lasts as long as my old Dewalt tools.
I always need something to work on the house or apartment or in the garage. I love my Makita LCT200W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit. Great Case and product. So I went online and bought some Under Armour straps and the problem is all solved. Great Product. This has a tool for everything. 5 Star rating for Makita. My only problem that I had was the straps clips kept bending and coming a part.
Full charge time is 15 minutes. Great batter life. Just one word "Perfect".Also great service from Amazon. I would get soar after 30 min of use. I got this at bargain price during 2008 Christmas. Great torque and ergonomics.I used it for 2 hours straight (both drill and impact) for a variety of work and these performed like a champ. DIY in the market for drill driver combo, go get it. Before these I've used Craftsman's 19.2 V but those are bulk and heavy.
I got these as a Christmas gift and absolutely love them. You won't be sorry. They are a replacement for my De-Walt 14.4 XBR drill which failed last summer. The L-ion batteries and drill are very light but you lose no power; in fact, I'd put this set on par wit the De-Walt they replaced.
That is it. Unfortunately the impact driver is not made for drilling. It runs too fast for any delicate driving tasks, and because of the impact drilling is out of the question. Wanted a lightweight alternative to my Millwaukee 18V hammer drill, and this drill is very light. The problem lies with the impact driver. I thought that I could use this compact unit to drill holes in floor joists (I am an electrician). It has one speed (fast) which can be controlled with the trigger but this is not easy to do. I should have bought a right angle drill instead.
Plenty of power and the light is a nice touch. I called Makita and they confirmed this. Live, spend money, and learn. The product description does not describe the purpose of this tool, which is driving screws and lag bolts.
