User Comments about the Black & Decker VPX1201 Li-Ion VPX 7-Volt Drill Driver

I must have a variable speed trigger in purchasing any drill. Although it clearly states in the section titled About The VPX 7 volt Drill/Driver that it has this feature, IT AINT SO.

Bought this drill for small jobs - Much lighter and easier to handle than my dewalt drill.

The best part about it is the small battery pack. BUT for the money it's an amazing machine. This drill is no Bosch or Hilti. For around $45, there isn't a better drill anywhere. The much more expensive products from Germany (Bosch) and Lichtenstein (Hilti) usually have rather large and heavy battery attachment that make working with them more tiring. And it doesn't feel as cheap as the price might suggest.

Being in building maintenance, I can't think of a better way to test it out. I just got this little driver today. I used it to hang cabinets and towel bars in my bathroom, then assembled a file cabinet shortly after I got home. I own an 18 volt DeWalt drill and lugging that monster around can get pretty old when you use it to drive a few screws then lug it back down 7 floors. I bought it for doing much of the light duty things I do at work.

Very compact and powerful. It has a 2 speed gear box low & hi plus forward & reverse, but it would be nice if it was variable speed, still it's a very nice unit & I am quit pleased with it.
