The unit was just like new and worked beautifully. It's great to be surprised by quality.
Laid 200 sq ft of 3/4" reclaimed pine boards using 1 1/2" nails with no trouble at all from the nailer, which looked and behaved like it was brand new. Almost sad I don't have any more flooring to install.
It is designed for 3/4" flooring and is non-adjustable. I used Bostich 2" hardwood cleat nails, which worked very well with few splits. Also, I placed a plywood sheet on the wall or slider when I was swinging the hammer close on that side. The Tool is rugged and well designed. You need at least, the strength, and eye and hand coordination necessary to drive framing nails to use this tool.
On the positive, this was the first floor I installed. If you can't do this, consider a pneumatic nailer instead. I found that I could nail within 6" on the nail-feeding side, and 14" on the driving side. We now have a 3/4" teak floor in our kitchen and everyone is happy with the outcome. You will need to manually nail within those bands near walls.
This product worked really well. of flooring I had to do. Way cheaper than renting for the 500 s.f.
Outside of that, its no-nonsence, very few moving parts. Yes, there are air powered versions available, but for 3 to 10 times the price this is a low cost alternative for those who dont mind smacking with a hammer. If you are tight with your money, or you like a simple no nonsense tool. Only draw back is if your not in very good shape, you will know it after a couple of hours. Has a 7 year warranty. Be carefull when you get close to the walls not to smack it with the provided hammer.
