User Comments about the Bosch 4100DG-09 10-Inch Worksite Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Stand and Digital Rip Fence

Very easy to rip long boards. I generally like the Bosch products. The old fashoned ruler on the saw is very accurate, and quicker to use. And pretty easy to use.The saw cuts awesome. Pretty straightforward assembly.Directions actually pretty good.

But I am sure some people might like this.Ive only had it about a month, but its holding up great, and very easy to use. You have to read them carefully, but they make sense.Portable stand also pretty easy to assmble. Ive been doing a lot of work on an old house and this saw is very versatile. I have an old Bosch drill and circular saw which have held up great over the last 12 years, and have become a loyal customer. cuts accurately and smoothly.I dont use the digital electronic measure much.

Bosch 4000 model is very similar. Recommend this pricey, but quality unit.My only concern is the size of the table limits this unit to projects with less than full 4x8 sheet cut requirements.Geometry and alignment have been very good given the platform.Takes two people to get it in the truck due to awkward size/weight proportion, but is expected for the equipment. Really like portability, balance whether folded or set up, and easy clean up.

Also bought the two support extensions which installed easily. The digital fence window is hard to read through but not impossible. I will call Bosch about this but it doesn't appear that any additional adjustment is possible. All measurements were dead on including miter slot to blade, 90 degree and 45 degree stops, and fence to blade. Got mine yesterday (Sept 21, 2009), uncrated it and put it together (including gravity rise stand) with no problem.

It's out about 1/16th inch and I suppose I'll get used to it but for the money it should be dead on. Instructions were easy to follow and illustrations clear. The only problem I encountered was the fence to blade zero with the pointer. I give the saw a fat 4 on a 1-5 scale because of the problems noted above but would buy it again in a heartbeat. I couldn't move the pointer far enough to zero it out with the fence against the blade.

However, there are tricks to getting around this problem; like securing it to the ground with clamps, etc.Because of this machine i found myself ordering dvd's that show me how to SAW and create other practical things.PS This would make an awesome fathers day gift. I dont normally buy things that are set and forget. Or even use once and leave it collecting dust. However, I know that if i ever have a job that requires my amateur skills i will definately bring out these guns. This thing is simply practical. I almost gave it to my dad, but forget it.I'd rather keep it. Easily movable, very storagable(if this word actually exists, lol). The only negative thing i can think of is that it is not 100% stable.

I also find the aluminum table top sometimes marks the pieces being cut and precludes the use of magnetic feather boards or jigs. I have been quite happy with the saw, but I question the value of the digital rip fence, especially at a $100 premium. Bosch 4100DG-09 10-Inch Worksite Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Stand and Digital Rip FenceI bought this tool as my first table saw. My experience has been that it needs frequent calibration to the blade and turns itself off too soon. Overall a good saw for the price if you don't spring for the digital fence. I find that the optical scale works better for me.
