User Comments about the (SE) Jeweler's Loupe- Double Power 10X & 20 X

When I saw this particular jeweler's loupe, with the feature of "two rates of magnification in one small unit", I wanted to try it out. Plus, in our family, we have an untold amount of "every day" time pieces, that are always requiring either a new battery or some sort of repair. I would very much, recommend this item to anyone, even a "pro", who may be looking for a quality loupe at a very reasonable price. It even came with a plastic, (but fairly heavy duty, for something made of plastic).,snap lid box, which keeps the two magnifiers dust and dirt free. I am not a "professional jeweler", in any way, but I do enjoy collecting, repairing and refurbishing wrist watches. This loupe is VERY WELL MADE. I was also very pleased with the vendor and the short time it actually took for me to receive this item. The chrome finish is well done and the lenses are crystal clear and flawlessly finished.

Gives the magnification stated, and is perfectly usable though small - magnified view is perfectly visible. Great buy for the price, for sure.

This size is more than adequate for looking at, for example, diamonds, but may not be big enough for geological purposes. The price is a staggering $4.15. I received mine in excellent shape -- no scratches whatsoever on the glass as one reviewer found. Face it, these things are essentially free, assuming you take the free-shipping option. The size of the 20x loupe is smaller (for looking at smaller things) and is actually sightly over the stated 12mm diameter or about 1/2 inch. It has a plastic housing for the lens, but the illuminator works well, and the optics diameter is 7/8 inch, or about 22mm, which is more than twice the area of the larger loupe on this model. The mechanical build quality is more than I expected for the price.

The size of the 10x loupe is stated to be 18mm, but the glass is 15mm or a little under 5/8 inch. As far as the optical quality, I found nothing to complain about. And you can look this gift horse in the mouth and come away smiling.Tim If you want a bigger, more powerful loupe with a built-in LED light, even including a spare battery, you might consider the SE 30X Illuminated Jewelers Loupe.

I bought this for my personal use because even with glasses i have a hard time reading small numbers, but now i can.

Probably good advice if you are going to use it constantly. One review complains that it's like something out of a gum machine. Construction seems to be good enough. Another review of this item recommends that you buy a 10x loupe that is 10x the cost. But for occasional use (I need it for one-off examination of coins), this is a much better buy. For the price that's about all you should expect, but it in truth far better, so I rate it a five for function and value. It is very basic but the optics are clear, which is all that matters.
