I recommend this to anyone. I purchased this router about 8 months ago for a much cheaper price $120.00. I can't believe it's now up to $200.00. It's a really nice powerful router that works great.
But since many other top US companies have also defected it is no longer suprising to me. Heavy duty and typical of Milwaukee high quality. Takes 1/2" and 1/4" shanks which expands the variety of bits you can use. Other than that the router is top notch. Not made in the USA, but in China.
I shipped it to the service center and bought a new 3 ½ hp Millwaukee router so I wouldn't have any power issues. Besides, they are really well built and with quality materials. I was using this router in my router table making raised panel doors and it struggled with the harder woods, even with 4-5 passes. 5 stars all the way. I immediately removed it from my router table, called customer service who instructed me on the process of having it serviced at an authorized service center. That's the kind of service that will keep me purchasing Millwaukee tools till the day I die. I opened it to find a BRAND NEW router in the box along with my old router dis-assembled in a bag.
Then it started sparking and spewed a peculiar smell. After about 1 ½ weeks, I received a package. ***** I was pleasantly surprised and still am.
Overall a solid product, but I did run across one issue. I took the tool apart and vacuumed it out well to recover it functionality, but it was surpising to have such an issue. I mounted the router under a router table and after only two days of use, dust rendered the on/off switch useless. I checked the resistance across the switch and it was jumping all over the place.
Nobody comes close to amazon with the price. Feels more solid than others in this price range that I messed with at Sears etc. Router seems well-made. Collet change is easy, bit changing isn't too bad-just takes a little time to get the hang of it. Shipping was fast. Case is HUGE.I haven't used it long, though it seems like it will hold up.
