However, the design makes them very limited in application. The surface will usually retain shavings. When these are used to cut a board that is exactly 3/4", they will not render a clean cut. These bits are well made and cut as well as any. The maximum cut is 3/4". Consequently, to obtain good cuts, I need to plane down to.72". Most boards that are purchased already planed are slightly thicker than this.
Very good T&G set. I am a big fan of CMT bits. It's nice that it has a 2 shafts instead of just one like most sets.
Set-up is also a breeze. All the boards fit very nicely, I couldn't ask for a better fit. I used this set to make tongue and groove wood flooring. The tongue and groove created with these bits will far exceed any tongue or groove on store bought flooring. You will not be dissappointed with these. The bits are excellent quality, I have already created 60 planks with these bits and they are still razor sharp.
I could also just make 1/4 tounge and grooves if I wanted to this way, and it might be enough for most aplications. My first test, I made a wood veneered panel, and it cut without even a splinter on the veneer. So maybe a shim on the double cutter would fix this. Looking forward to making perfect tounge and grove joints, and this tool is the one to use. These cut like a dream. I will try that on my next project.
I use them on a router table with a fence taking 1/8 passed until I hit 1/2. They are razor sharp, spin true and smooth. It did seem to me that they don't make a tight enough joints (at least the one I was sold). They have a bolt on top and I can adjust them I think, but have not tried.
