There are many sorts available, and it's just as safe. I love this pedal, it's exactly what I needed to operate my dremel hands-free. The variable speed is great, and I love the safety of knowing that if I take my foot off the switch, the power goes away. There's one TINY problem with this, which is that the "IN" plug (the port where you plug in your dremel) is a 3-prong plug but does not fit polarized plugs (the kind of plug which has 2 prongs, one wider than the other). I just wish it came this way out of the box :) This is OK because you just buy an adapter at any general purpose store for $2.99 which DOES take polarized in, but does NOT have polarized OUT.
Imagine having full control of the speed of your Dremel from 0 to full speed with a touch of your foot. With the addition of the Dremel 220-01 Rotary Tool Work Station and the Dremel 225-01 Flex Shaft Attachment to my shop this past Christmas, I thought how useful it would be if you could control the speed of the tool with your foot. After having a Dremel for many years now, I finally have started really using it as a very handy crafting tool. I did some research on Amazon and quickly found the MOTO TOOL FOOT PEDAL for power tools which was exactly what I was looking for. The rheostat in the pedal is very smooth and once you quickly get accustomed to using your foot to control the speed, you will find the tool so much more useful for carving, engraving, drilling micro holes in small jewelry and much more.To me, this is a must have item in any Dremel enthusiasts workshop. The price can't be beat, I am really surprised Dremel doesn't offer this in their vast array of attachments, but I guess it it probably best they don't since it would cost 3 to 4 times more than this switch.
I now have my variable speed Dremel tool set on high and increase speed with the pedal pressure. I wanted the pedal for my Dremel tool. I make jewelry and need both hands for the Dremel and my work. My only gripe: the cord could be longer and I have to drape it right across my bench instead of around it out of the way. It works great for that purpose and the price was right.
I'm so glad I found it and it shipped right away. I bought this foot pedal for my dremel. I use it for jewelry making and this has got to be one of the best inventions yet. Yippee. It works great and gives me the much needed second hand.
It's riveted together, so if it ever fails, it's a throwaway. This is a simple resistance-based control--no fancy electronics. But that's all you need for a Dremel tool. Good value for the money. Pedal motion is smooth and speed feels proportional.
