I was concerned it may be too hard for my wooden deck but no, not at all. But so far so good after two months no problem so maybe I'm wrong. As you bend and stand the Velcro will be strained and I get the feeling it will be the weak link in this design. Pads are a lot more thick than I expected, I was thinking of some gel-filled material that I could push in, but it was a lot harder, more like a tire tread. Very nice grip on the ground but be careful about twisting because it anchors you very firmly. We shall see. The only concern I really have is that I don't think the velcro will last that long.
The straps are OK but for many (six plus) hours of use they can hurt. If you have big ole knees this isn't gonna work for you. If you are of less than gigantic stature go for it. GOOD DEAL. VERY comfortable.
The only problem that I have with the pads is the same problem everybody has with Knee pads they hurt the back of your legs.
An avid gardner with bad knees, it was a challenge to weed, with the gel knee pads, it was super comfort.
