When it was delivered I decided to put it through its paces. Does your air gun have one of those. Did I mention you can fit it pretty much anywhere a standard air-powered impact gun would fit. I bought it to swap wheels and tires when I rallycross. This thing is simply awesome.
And it has a little LED light on the end. The size and weight is misleading; it packs a mean punch. To my surprise, it was able to break loose bolts that held struts to knuckles on my parts car, as well as the big nut on the end of an axlestub. This came with a nice (albeit large) hard plastic case, 2 batteries, and a fancy charger. I haven't yet had a chance to use it for an extended period of time, but from my experience, the battery holds a charge for a while.
I wonder if perhaps he (or she) had a bad tool. I'd pass mine around the paddock and it could be used all weekend by several people without a recharge. I have found that not only can this one easily break lug nuts tightened to 95 ft/lbs, but that it can do many many wheels one charge. With respect to the reviewer who said it would not break lugnuts tightened to 95 ft/lbs on his BMW, I found just the opposite to be true. I also use mine for changing race tires on my BMW. It would even sit in the trailer for a couple of weeks without a recharge and still break lugnuts loose. While this one certainly isn't cheap, I'd have to say that because of it's very small size and huge power it far surpasses all the other impact drivers I have used and is well worth the money. I have used numerous impact wrenches that my friends own (some of which could not break lugnuts at all even on a full charge) and I have used another Makita without the LiON battery, which I used to own.
The Makita impact wrench was not able to break the nut. The lug bolt is 17mm from a BMW and I torque it to 95ft/lbs with a Craftsman spring type torque wrench. The only reason I gave this product even one star is that the batteries charged quickly and the drill is light. I don't know if I got a defective drill or what, but thank goodness I purchased from Amazon so return was not an issue. I purchased this impact wrench strictly for changing tires at the track from regular tire to racing compound tires. Rated at 177 ft/lbs but could not break a 95 ft/lbs nut. Unfortunately too light to be any good. Yes I charged the batteries and tried both of them with the same result.
