This "dustless" pole sander allows for a greater range of movement in tight locations for a person familiar with a pole sanding. These sanders were also attached to very flexible 25ft - 1 1/4" hoses which allowed the freedom of movement and the vacs to be placed away from the work areas.Don't get me wrong, we love our Porter Cable units for working in occupied areas. These pole sanders have an adjustable vac attachment at the pad, which allows the Finisher to position the pole wherever thay want, unlike the other products (including the Porter Cable) where the vac hose attaches at the base of the pole. This sander works as it should, and performed better than out Porter Cable unit on a recent constricted project. We are a General Contractor and bought two of these in a pinch to finish nine (9) media projection rooms of an occupied building. But these Hyde sanders are also now included in our Finisher's toolbox. The rooms are very small and the Finisher was spending more time re-positioning the Porter Cable unit than actual sanding.
The Hyde tool, works very well, dust is keep down to a minimum. It's a time saver. It has save me time and labor hours not having to clean up as much.
great product worked better than i expected.sanded 1200 sgft in ceiling no problem.works just as good as the expensive stuff just takes alittle adjustment for the suction control but a great tool
I used a regular pole that I use in my paint roller. You will want to use a bag in your vacuum because it does suck up the dust. Also came with several different vacuum hose adapters, which allowed me to use my craftsman large hose vacuum. The vacuum pool sanding kit worked very well for me. Product is made well "in Canada" and is durable enough to handle my usual strong-arm abuse. Todd Has easy to use sanding screen attaching nubs and flexible shaft that allows you to work from any angle.
I think it is largely going to depend on whether the vacuum/ shopvac that you are using is strong enough and filtered well enough, but ours has worked great. I don't know how well it'd stand up in a professional application, but for the do it yourselfer with the occasional project, this is great. I'd highly recommend this product. I have used this while doing a kitchen renovation and it has worked very well. Not really even any dust left on the wall. Well worth the money when you consider the time savings and the health benefits of not inhaling the dust. Any pole sander is a little unwieldy and the hose adds a bit of bulk, but it's been worth the very minor annoyance of dealing with the hose to not have to entomb the area you are working on in plastic & dropcloths.
