No longer. And none of the tools are excessive. This is my first leatherman, and it's awesome. I believe this leatherman has the perfect combination of features, yet it's still nice and light. I've carried various swiss army knives for years for that reason. All the tools are easy to access and the locks are just as easy to release. The one handed blade opening is especially handy and very easy to use.
I've always had an aversion to Leatherman type tools, because they seemed bulky, clumsy and ugly to me. I'm very impressed with everything about this tool, even the aesthetics. I thoroughly researched all the other leatherman tools before purchasing this one, and I'd say the Charge TTi is the way to go. The blades couldn't get any sharper, and stay that way.
Overall fit and function are as advertised. I considered going through the hassle of shipping it back (why the hell are there scratches on a new product this expensive), but I would probably scratch it myself sooner or later, so whatever.Like someone already mentioned, let's get a few more "Quality is job one" posters at the Leatherman plant. However, there were so many rub marks/ scratches on the plier head it looked as though someone at Leatherman used the pliers to completely rebuild the engine in their car before shipping it to me.
These Multitools is "don't leave home without it" items, so I carried it with me most of the time. Two thumbs up for you Leatherman. Multi functions very handy and durability is outstanding.
The s30 blade is razor sharp and the "seatbelt hook" is just as handy. VERY handy if you work in a furniture store.Add that in with the fact that the Amazon retailer Bostic had the best price by at least $20 of the other 5 Leatherman recommended vendors made this a great deal. The gift tin is nice and the included driver set fits nicely inside the included leather case. This is just a quality tool from start to finish. Of all the Leatherman tools the Charge TTi is the best, you can really feal the difference in the quality as soon as you take it out of the box. Leatherman 830684 Charge TTi Multi-Tool with Leather Sheath and Gift TinI work in Retail and spent a ton of time researching different tools.
The thing that really seperates the Charge from other Leatherman tools is the various hex heads that come in the bit kit. I needed something that will last but is reasonably priced and has alot of flexibility. Having these both on the outside of the tool is great so you can open it quickly and with one hand.Once you open it up it only gets better. I would recommend this to anyone, just be careful the blades are VERY sharp. The bit driver are awesome and everything inside and out locks into place when you extend the attachment.
The knife blades are accessible without opening the pliers, and the other accessories are neatly tucked away in the handles until needed. I have been given "complimentary" multi-tools (when joining certain sports/tool clubs or subscribing to magazines in the same catagory), but I have found them to be dangerous. I strongly recommend a light coat of lubricant to all joints and blades, and working the mechanism(s) thoroughly right out of the box. Some reviewers say the TTI is a bit expensive, but you can buy a multi-tool for 1/10th of the price, if poor design and inferior quality does not bother you. The Leatherman TTI is the best balance of weight, size and functionality available in a Multi-Tool. The entire arrary of tools, including the pliers and blades open and deploy with ease. If you can, spend the money on this multi-tool and you will not regret your decision.once again, you get what you pay for. Changing the screwdriver bits is an easy task thanks to the pressure springs and well designed port and bits.
