It's the seal around the push button mechanism that leaks and that part is pressed together so you can't take it apart without ruining it. They're nicely made - from the exterior. There is an O-ring for the oil reservoir and another O-ring for the cap end but the push-button plunger is not adequately sealed to prevent leakage. 16. These dates are from the USPS tracking site.I have a vision of some overweight 29 year old "kid" sitting in his mom's basement with boxes of tools stacked all around the walls, with a cot in the corner, and him too stoned and wrapped up in a marathon session of WOW to remember put it in the mail box.If anyone knows who makes the real honest-to-God precision oiler (that doesn't leak) please post the information. By cutting corners they can under price those making the high quality product. If you keep the oiler in your shirt pocket, it will leak, but very slowly and the leaking oil will be contained by the screw on cap. 2, 2010. I lost about $7.00 worth of fairly expensive watch oil before I figured out what was going on.There's no way to fix it.
A similar product has been widely available in England for a long time. 3, a shipping/postage label was generated and printed (First class postage, cost $2.77). I'd still like to have a couple. The ones I bought were by NEIKO Tools, made in Taiwan, blister packaged for English speaking market. I received it Feb.
For God only knows what reason, it never got to the Boston Post Office until Feb. However they then tacked on $7.50 for EACH oiler for shipping. Until I find out for sure who is selling the good ones I'll have to keep using my over-sized plastic syringes. That was Feb. I bought 2 of them thinking "what a good idea". It's a very popular Asian practice to make a tool that looks like the original but lacks in the essential engineering features that made the original a popular, well made item, in the first place.
An excellent idea, poor execution. But if you lay it down (horizontal) or, worse yet, lay it in your tool box with the plunger end lower than the tip, you will come back to a tool box with the oiler empty and oil in the bottom of the box. That's the problem with copy-cat products.
22, 2010. The next day, Feb. This is a cheap knockoff of an original, probably English.
They may look the same but.I bought it from "[.]." for $4.77. I checked that box so as to get them a little quicker. They offer "expedited shipping".
The housing is beautiful machined aluminum and all the connections are sealed with black rubber O-rings. Add a little bit of Marvel Mystery oil and you are all set. The finish is a nice brushed look. Any place else you'd expect to pay $19.95 for something of this quality. As with most Neiko tools, you get a lot for your money.
There is also a pocket clip and it snaps into a machined ring on the body. For under $5, this oil is amazing. The action of the push button on top (which allows the oil to come out) is high quality and feels like you are working something in a Cadillac. Another fine product from Neiko Tools - I'm loving their products more and more every day. There is a nice protective cap (also heavy, machined aluminum) that covers the needle.
I'm using it for lubricating hard to reach areas with my firearms. It is very important to control the amount of lubrication (oil) when cleaning firearms and this little guy does it beautifully. Actually you can control the size of drop by pressing slightly on the plunger located at the top. About the size of an ink pen, it fits the hand with comfort & ease. The pen looks to be of excellent quality. Be sure you use a light oil, this insures it works the way it was designed. All you need to do is fill the tube, I spray Tri-Flow into the tube and it works great. It dispenses one very small drop where I need it.
Does an excellent job applying small amounts of very thin fine oil to lubricate your whatever needs. The best price you will ever see for these is at Neiko Tools, that is if you can even find them anywhere else to compare the price.Just be sure to use the proper oil, it must be very thin oil not heavy oil or else it wont work. These are made for thin oil to be ejected. Gets right in there, in those hard to get places with no problem whatsoever. Works wonderful for small applications.
When you press the button the oil should run out along the inner line that lowers from the bottom. Thicker oil will not go through properly and will clog the shaft.Whether or not that's past the purpose of these things I don't really know.
