Not so. I can't compare these with other nails, nor is it likely I ever will, as I intend to keep buy DeWalt nails for my DeWalt nailer. These aren't your Dad's "brads" that I used in the 80's. When I bought the Dewalt 18v Cordless nailerDeWALT DC628 R 18V Cordless Angled Finish Nailer 15ga and these nails I figured things would be about the same. Years ago I had a Bosch 15/16 gauge finishing nailer that I thought was great.
The coating gives a grip comparable to #10 nails, and the head is large enough to prevent pull-through unless you want it to. I generally used it for trim work, and for holding larger pieces in place while I'd grab a hammer and a bag of nails and go at it. These nails have a substantial head (a "D" head") and a superior coating. ("If it ain't broke.")Note: The DeWalt nailers can only handle one gauge of nail, unlike my old Bosch. The grip is fantastic and I have decided to use these nails to attach plywood to the framing for a shed I am making.
