Hubby got this air hose reel for his compressor. He's very pleased with his new gadget. He's rigged it up in his garage overhead and now has his air-hose handy at all times.
My hose reel extends the entire 50 feet, and it retracts all the way. The picture shows a yellow plastic like external covering. I know these hoses get dirty and having that "slick" outer surface makes cleaning easy - but my hose is the standard black rubber. However, a high quality hose reel it can be $400+. It gets dirty laying on the ground and that black rubber can mark surfaces (just like a shoe scuff). So I adjusted it so that I can let it go at any length and it will retract all the way with a small "BUMP" at the end.Mounting to the ceiling isn't very hard, but you do have to dis-assemble the reel from the stand to do it (this is where I learned you can modify the retraction force).Shipping was super fast and it was double boxed, so the reel was in perfect condition.The only gripe I have, is the hose itself. I was researching hose reels and found a wide range of quality and price.
I know the high quality ones are dependable and they can take a beating (I've worked in a number of places that have these). So I thought I'd try this one out - being that the price is reasonable.So it's been installed for about 2 weeks now and I have to say that I love it. I hate buying the cheap stuff at the local bargain store (you can pick one up for about $30). The rollers that guide the hose back into position are already black (and it's only been 2 weeks). But I know these cheap ones always have problems, and I know the high quality ones work without any problems. I've read some reviews where this model won't extend all the way out and/or won't retract all the way - I didn't experience this at all. But that's my only gripe - I'm pleased with reel and I didn't have to spend lots of money to get good quality.
You can even adjust the retraction force when the hose is almost fully wound - I found that the force was too high the way it shipped, and the end would "SLAM" against the stop.
Hose is good quality rubber, seems to work as designed, and the price was decent. The connection hose could have been longer, would have made the installation easier.
I have to fuss with it a bit. The hose and reel are both very heavy duty and will surely last me for years to come. This hose reel is really nice. I just hung it up in my gargage last weekend. I am trying to find an adjustment to make this work better, but it is pretty good as it is. The only issue I am having is that it does not seem to catch (so it does not wind up) as easy as I would like.
Product was delivered timely and appears to be exactly as advertised and shown. I'm confident it will meet my needs.
