this DeWalt saw is awesome, used it for demo in a bathroom, was a breeze, really good product and would recommend to anyone.
Instead i got this one for just a little bit more. I thought about buying a cheap chinese one locally for $59.99. I dont know if its better or worse than the higher priced models. The local stores sold comparable models for 150-200 so this was a great saving. I needed a "sawzall" (reciprocating saw) for some home reno's i am in the process of. This unit looked like new when i got it, and so far has worked perfectly without a problem. but it seems to get the job done. Its so useful i dont know why i didnt get one sooner.
First thing out of the box I used the saw to cut a solid piece of 1.5 inch cold roll. No problems whatsoever. I used my $50 Dewalt rebate for this and am most happy with my $29.99 reciprocating saw. Now Coleman/Powermate.Grrrrrrr. I see no signs that this saw is not a new unit. I've had good luck with all my Dewalt Recon tools. As you can see from my 5 star rating I am impressed with this saw.
I had forgotten that it was a factory reconditioned unit until I decided to read the other reviews. I figured if it crapped out I'd just put it back in the box and send it back. That's a negative (-6) star review. I even cleaned it up and put it back in its hard-shell box instead of throwing it in the JoBox like I do with my other power tools.
It doesn't see much action in my line of work, so I bought it on the cheap. Its OK, and has managed to cut a 4-inch cast iron drain pipe. I like the way you can orient the blade either vertical or horizontal. But it doesn't have the power (or orbital action) of my 30 year old Porter Cable.
Lots of power. This isn't a tool that gets a whole lot of use, but sure is useful when doing renovations. Good tool. It is also great for cutting PVC pipe. The quick disconnect is a must, especially when handling hot blades.
