The benefit of having one-size cuts all is very nice, but a trimmer with interchangeable trimming lengths would probably be more sufficient. Overall, this is a great product, granted I've only used it a limited number of times. Having a wireless trimmer makes it easier to maneuver. It provides a very clean trim, and the vacuum feature makes this product worthwhile over others (from what I can assume). I've had the product for about 2 weeks now and have used it about 6 times.
Shaving while plugged in often makes it slightly more difficult to use. This is the first trimmer I have used. The rotating zoom on this sometimes moves slightly out of place which changes the length of the trim slightly (my neurosis brings this to my attention since I prefer everything to be precise). My suggestion, if you're neurotic about trim length, is to look around and find a trimmer with trimming attachments for varying lengths because of the occasional twist of the zoom feature that changes the trimming length. I typically charge it while I am in the shower and then remove the charger to trim (it holds charge very well).
Not good.As for how well it trims, on a scale 1 to 10, I would say 10. Who can predict the outcome. What chemistry is the battery. Not this thing. Who knows.
I don't know but there are stories on the internet where overcharging other products (not this one) has burnt down houses. Just like my cell phone :(.Not like my NiteRider bicycle light, which is hassle free plug and play. Other products by NiteRider can't do that, only their better/newer ones. The on/off switch is right on top, a light touch to cycle it. Perhaps this item would not dangerously overheat the first time or the second, and perhaps not the third. Their cheaper models are like this Norelco shaver as far as recharging goes. Most quality rechargeable items nowadays can be left in the recharging base constantly, always ready for use. Wonderful.
Well there's a hint in the user instructions about the necessity of conditioning the batteries: ". Continue using it until the battery is completely empty". And then twice a year you are advised to run down the batteries completely. Instead the cord is in the leaving room so once a week, I can watch TV while recharging where I can see the status light to remind me to unplug the dang thing when its done. Unfortunately the sales department has downgraded quality by packaging the trimmer with a cheap recharging system.
What happens if you forget. The mechanical tech department at Norelco have produced another fine shaver/trimmer mechanism. Maybe it would just lessen the life of or ruin the battery. How hot will it get in there if it does come on.
Now when you travel you pray that the thing isn't cutting up your clothes in the suitcase. Can be left in the charging stand for days, weeks, months, according to the instructions. The user directions warn that it must be charged no longer than 24 hours. do not recharge trimmer between trimming sessions.
The basic mechanics are well designed. So, I don't have the recharging cord anywhere near the bathroom sink, I could forget while away a few days that it is plugged in and therefore charging.
- You can always fall back to corded operation. It was easy, the results were good, and the vacuum did a surprisingly good job of capturing most of the trimmed hair. The "edging" operation was a little less successful, but I think that new personal care products like this always take a little while to get used to. Only tried it once so far -- for beard trimming -- but it's very promising. The "mowing" operation -- getting my beard to an even length -- went extremely well. I'm optimistic that I'll go from liking it to loving it with a little practice. And the battery ran the trimmer strongly throughout that first session. (That's a smart design). It's a Ni-Cad battery, so you KNOW it will disappoint you in the end, but: - The instructions are very clear about how to maximize a Ni-Cad battery's life.
Easily adjustable from 3/4 in. Vacuum works great for keeping area clean. to very short stubble.
A minor problem is that it too easy to hit the vacuum button while you are trimming your beard. I can see no fault with this product. I have had a beard for over 20 years and I can not believe that it took me this long to get a trimmer. It is easy to use, it takes less time to trim my beard, and the results are a consistent even trim every time. Other than that, it is a great product. I love the vacuum, as it eliminates almost all clean up after trimming my beard.
