Its a decent tester, but not as good as the 1st gen one. It uses up batteries faster, and gives more false readings.
It is sensitive, accurate, durable and has a handy clip when you slide it in your pocket. It is a quality product that has lasted me for over 5 years so far. I wouldn't trust any brand other than Greenlee and Fluke. I'm getting one for my brother and father as gifts. This is the only volt alert I would use and trust. The auto shutoff is nice (with an audible alert to let you know it's turning itself off). I think all others are dangerous and a waste of money. The illuminated tip is good for dark places like an attic.
High quality. Let it be known, these aren't fool proof. Believe all of these positive reviews. They're a quick way to determine the presence of voltage. there is no way I would pass it up and I use these everyday. Sometimes I use it to shut a circuit off quickly and I like to be able to hear it if I am far away and don't have anyone around to tell me I found the right breaker. The only MINOR issue I have with this is the low volume.
I've always used the Greenlee "tickers", but I got such a good deal ($1.50 before shipping.). very sensitive. If you're not positive, be safe and at least use a meter. That's just me, others may prefer the quieter type.
I have dropped it many times and it remains unfazed. I can see why they all like it. this is the tester that all the electricians use at work highly recommend.what can I say. It works great and saves me a lot of time from individually testing each wire with a meter. great product and Fluke lives up to it's reputation. It's heavy duty and bulletproof.
This tool looked durable, but broke after it fell off of a six foot ladder.
