The saw came pretty close to being in alignment but that can be adjusted. The only thing I wish is that I could have gotten a paper copy of the manual. I will probably upgrade the blade at some point, but the work I am doing now is pretty rough so the stock blade will work for a while. I received this saw and it operates very well. I just don't have a computer in my shop that often.
The included blade isn't the best but that can be replaced. None of the accessory items that are supposed to come standard were in the box. The instruction manual, front angle lock, dust bag, standard clamp, and wrench kit were not included. I contacted Hitachi however and they sent all missing parts within the week.
However, I do have one complaint the laser light is very to nearly impossible to in direct or near direct sunlight. I like it for among other 2 reasons. unlike some of the other feedback my saw came in good condition pretty fast. 1 the saw is not too heavy to carry around to different jobsites. Otherwise a good saw. 2 it was for 30 dollars cheaper than lowes.
The instructions do have a few rough spots but overall are not much different than other manuals. Not only did I save money but the saw looks brand new. I bought this saw as a re-conditioned model and am very happy with the results. There are no scuff marks or blemishes at all. I would definitely buy this saw again and will recommend to friends. The saw came packed on all sides with strong form fitting styrofoam As other reviewers have mentioned the saw cut very accurately right out of the box and is very easy to use.
It gave a little in either direction, but not much, and it still didn't untighten enough to allow the head to tilt.I decided it must be defective, so I returned it and picked another of the same model. I bought one from my local Lowes, and once I got it home, discovered that the bevel clamp in the rear (the little handle you turn to loosen the head so you can tilt it) would not move. But once I got home, I found another overly tight screw problem, this time on the spindle guard, the metal guard covering the bolt you take off to change blades. Even with my corded drill and a Phillips bit I couldn't get them out, in fact I almost stripped the screw heads trying to remove them.So had to return that one.
But to be completely honest, Hitachi's manufacturing or QC is absolutely horrible. When you get back-to-back saws with the same problem of overly tightened or defective screws/bolts in two different areas of the product, so tight the consumer cannot adjust them, then something is terribly wrong with your manufacturing or your QC process. Now I'm reading up on other brands of saws to buy, as I'm not giving Hitachi a third shot. I don't think the design of the saw is at fault, it's probably a great saw. I read good things about this saw on Amazon, and also another professional tools review site. I unscrewed the plastic handle on it, and found a hex type head there, so I tried turning it with a socket wrench. Tried out the bevel clamp in the store before I left and it worked fine, so took that one home. I've never had to return the same model of something twice in my life.
In fact, this product soured me so bad on Hitachi's products I doubt I'll ever buy or recommend a Hitachi product again. So buyer beware - if you're buying this saw in person, try out the bevel clamp, all the adjustments, remove the spindle guard and blade, etc, in the store to make sure it works. I could not move it no matter how much I tried. Neither of the two screws (Phillips heads) holding the spindle guard in place would budge with a handheld screwdriver. If I hadn't tried to remove the spindle guard on that second one, I could just imagine down the road not being able to get the guard off when it's time to change blades. They didn't have any more of this model in stock, but even if they had I wouldn't have gotten one.
see other posts). I was also able find a replacment part online for less than it would cost to send the saw back to Amazon. I got out some tools and bent the bent portion of the fence back into position. When I opened the box I noticed that the sub fence was broken and another portion bent(trend. I tried to take it to a Hitachi repair shop today only to be told that it is a shipping issue not a warrenty issue. Looks like ordering this saw from Amazon is a gamble.Other than that I used the saw to build my cedar fance and it was real handy for cutting accurate lengths for the gates. So.
