Very much worth getting. The design makes taking the hammer out a one hand task that is accomplished in seconds. I've been using the holster for a year and it is very durable and handy. There is no snagging like with leather holsters. I've found the holster works best with GI quick release belt buckles that one can find at army surplus stores. Storing the hammer is just as easy which is critical so one doesn't lose their hammer in the field.
Sheaths are difficult to use until they're really and I mean really broken in. The 'U' hook is tall enough that the hammer doesn't easily bounce out. Point the handle to the sky, slide the pointed or chisel end into the tube, set the hammer head on the 'U' hook and just drop the hammer to the side. While not a think of beauty the thing is it works. I've just about always found them to be a two handed operation. Besides working better than a sheath the Estwing Hammerlock Pick is Holster also cheaper. They're great for storage but if you really intend to carry a rock hammer for use in the field then get one of these.
Pros: It definitely holds the hammer in place and prevents you from getting stuck by the sharp pick end.Con: The PVC end of the holster is actually sharp. I rounded the corners down and all is good now.
