User Comments about the RotoZip RZ18V-2100 30,000 RPM 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Spiral Saw, includes Bosch Battery and Charger, ZipMate, and Tool Bag

It is easiest cleanest way I've found to cut large openings in draywall. I just received a new one in the mail after about a week and a half. I had a motor in my rz18 burn out well after a warranty would have run out. I like a company who stands behind their tools. I haven't had the best luck using it with wood, I would prefer the power of a router. This tool is great with the dust extractor and a window/door drywall bit.

The portability is well worth the trade off of a limited runtime in many cases.Highly recommended. When I first spoke with Rotozip about the loose handle, they promptly mailed me a new one. However, after more than a year of use I hardly notice it anymore.o Rather noisy. That's my main reason for a not giving the tool a 5 star rating. While I've only used it on wood, I imagine it would remove paint, rust, and other stuff quite effectively.Remember, this is a battery powered tool.

With this setup, I've been very pleased with the rotozip's performance as a cordless router. It makes the rotozip into an aggressive disk sander, that removes wood very quickly. It has ample power with smaller bits such as 1/4" round over, or a 1/2" dish cutter. However, to be fair, it is no louder than my other plug-in routers spinning at 30,000 rpm.Other:I also have the sanding kit.

I've used it too cut metal roof sheets (using zipmate)o cut other metal including nails, bolts, rebar.o cut holes in drywall. However, I 've surprised myself with how often I reach for this tool first. Unfortunately, while a better fit, it is still not as solid as one would like. If you've got a mountain of metal to cut, or wood to rout, I would probably use a plug-in tool. However, if the tool has been worked hard the charger waits till the battery cools down. It has proven to be much more useful than I ever thought it would.Pros:Well built, high quality tool (like many other Bosch products).Versatile. This is for rough work only. I adapted a Dremel Advantage plunge router base to work with my rotozip (the round collars are the same diameter, making this quite easy to do).

This is a great tool. I use it more as a router than for any other purpose. The tools (wrench, collets, and some bits) all fit in the handle, and so are with you wherever you are using the tool (a nice feature in a portable tool).Product support is very good. However, it is "good enough", especially considering all of the other good points about this tool.Batteries and charger are compatible with my other 18V Bosch bluecore tools (jigsaw, circular saw and planer). (The trick to accurate, straight cuts is to use a straightedge - this applies to all rotary tools).o sand wood.o rout wood.

This bothered me a lot when I first purchased the tool. The included standoff attachment works, but is rather unsteady. They charge very quickly (1/2 hour). It works, but is not as rock solid as I would like.

In my experience this can extend the charge cycle by up to another 1/2 hour.Cons:o Somewhat wobbly handle.

Under a floor that was being left while a new subfloor was reinstalled we had hundreds of nails to cut off. Spiral bits were good for triming some siding where a 'sawzall' would have likely damaged adjacent finish mat'l. And the rotozip seems to go a long ways for a battery tool. This has been a little labor saver that comes in handy for odd jobs where a reciprocating saw would be too awkward. With the accessory "zip mate" and metal cutting wheel we cut the nails off quickly even in tight dark corners using eye protection of course. I did get it for a great price though as a manager at a store marked it down thinking it was a useless non-seller. Battery has a better than average charger that works with a my many other Bosch cordless tools.

It has made his life easier. He has never owned a tool like this. I purchased this for my husband. He loves it. We would recommend it to anyone. It does everything that he needs it to do and more.
