This light works great. t is being used for projects around the home, outside and even for photographing. Has three levels of brightness. We like the versatility of being able to move the light head to the angle we need it.
Bought this for my husband and he loves it. I don't think anyone can be disappointed with this item. Super bright light and the option to use one or all three lights at once is terrific.
Its a good design. It could be improved upon.I had mine about 1 month when one of the caps that hold the batteries in the leg came off.The threads are cheap.About a month later another came off.If the legs were threaded and it had a metal cap to screw on, it would be much better.
Similarly, the "parallel energy cell technology," which apparently allows function on only three batteries, appears to be a very nice feature.Nevertheless, still in new condition, one of the plastic caps that secure the battery compartments fell off and would not thread securely back onto the metal legs. Although I have not seen these lights, the bands may have partially solved the problem with these caps. These facts exemplify an important weak point in the quality of the construction of this product, one that has already been forseen by at least one reviewer. I have had little use for the variable light intensity, and although I have not "used" the low battery indicator, this appears to be a good feature. In my opinion, the idea behind this light is very nice, but because of a lack of quality in materials, the overall result has suffered.Features that I found particularly useful include the articulating head and tripod, which permit the tool to direct light without the use of hands--assuming a relatively level surface is available close by.
If such a light is a must, it seems worth considering Stanley's 95-115 and 95-146, which appear to have metal bands around the aforementioned caps. For example, I used this light for wiring a (floor level) receptacle in a room with little natural light (and no power). These caps are made of low quality plastic with a relatively low precision, so they do not thread securely onto the tripod legs. These other lights may also offer better lighting quality and/or quality, which I have not investigated. A second of these caps cracked after the light was dropped.
The new one lists at only $10 and sells for less. In 2008, the model was replaced with one having a single bright LED and the same model number. Look for the one LED - it is marked on the box. I don't know why they kept the same model number but the six LED one is on clearance at most stores. The original Stanley Tripod Flashlight (model 95-112) has six weak LEDs. I compared them against each other. And shop around - you'll be surprised. The construction is similar but the light from the new one is much more intense and useful.
