User Comments about the JBL On Tour Portable Speaker System ( Black )

I was hoping to keep it for the good price and portability. If you really want to ENJOY music, look into more expensive, better speaker. However, other than piano and accoustic music, everything else if just off. And I am only a casual classical music listener.

For the size of the speakers, the sound quality is excellent. Everyone is impressed by the quality and sound output from these little guys. Battery life is better than I was expecting.I have now brought these speakers on several trips, with different groups of friends and to work. These speakers were recommended to me by a friend, and I have yet to be disappointed. High and mid ranges are clear and crisp, and the woofer, though somewhat anemic, is cleverly designed into the fold out cover for as much bass as I would expect from portable speakers.Connectivity is through a standard Aux-in cable, so no need to worry whether the plug is compatible with your model iPod or iPhone (unless you have the first generation iPhone, which needs a special adaptor for any aux-in cable). After a few minutes, you may even forget you're listening on a portable system.I have read in other reviews that you can blow these speakers pretty easily, so I have been careful, and have not tested fate on that one.I guess it would also be nice if there were a convenient retractable Aux-in cable, so you don't have to carry that around separately and risk losing it, but that's just being picky.Overall, I'm very happy with these speakers and would highly recommend them to anyone who wants a portable speakers system with great quality for the size. Power choices include 4 AAA batteries or AC wall outlet adaptor.

I was thinking about going ahead and buying it because they seemed to be good and they are not being made anymore (a lot of stores aren't selling them any more). The retail was $99, but they were commonly sold for $75 or less. Amazon stops selling items with really great reviews and a 3rd party pulls in trys selling it at an outrageous price.Don't buy this for $199. A few days ago amazon was selling this for $58 with free shipping. Well, Amazon stopped selling them. Now some stupid 3rd party is selling them for $199. This is a rip off. They probably are good for $60-$75 dollar speakers, but you can get much better for $200. This is becoming common on Amazon.

I like it how it looks. It is compact, simple and light. However, the lower sounds are full and rich, you can enjoy it. This speaker set also does not pick up some sounds that my built-in computer speakers can. I am going to return this product. But it does not pick up sounds as much as I expected, especially higher ranges. I don't recommend this speaker system who want to play music with a wider range, but it is a good speaker system if you want to enjoy only bass. The violin sounds thin and poor, coming from far away.

I have connected it to my Ipod and also listened to online radio, both works very well. as I cannot stand to just listen to the poor music and sound of the radio that is in the hotel room, I decided to buy new travel speakers. I forgot my Creative travel speakers at home. I checked the reviews on Amazon and decided to go for the JBL On Tour. I have these speakers only for a few days so I cannot tell if they are good for a lot of travelling but I'm very impressed of the great sound - I guess I will no longer use my Creative speakers - these are much better. Oh my gosh, I cannot believe it, the sound of this small device is so great.
