We really like this newer Drill Doctor, seems easyer to use. Beleive this is a good sharpener for the money. We wore out the last one.
I got tired of paying $30 per bit for 3/4in bit so I bought the DD750x, howver the grinding wheel lasted only 3 bits. Its probalby ok for small bits but not going to save you a ton of money as you will have to keep replacing the grinding wheels Still cheaper than buying new large bits.
I spent anywhere from $2 - $10 for a new bit every time. The bit made an extremely clean cut. My wife bought me one for Christmas before I could buy it. I put a few holes into a scrap piece of oak. I build small furniture mostly out of oak.
The oak would eat up the bits in no time and start splintering the wood around the hole. I thought that there had to be a better way. No splinters. Better than a new bit, as a matter of fact. I have been buying new bits for every project I take on.
I found this online and figured I would try it. This is a must buy for anyone working with hardwoods. I begged her into giving it to me early and just sharpened my first bit with it.
As a nice touch the manufactuer also included a $20 off coupon for a number of related products or accessories. Nice product, works well. Not quit as easy as a pencil sharpener but close. I chose a replacement cutting wheel for this product. The enclosed video really made the directions clear.
This Drill Doctor does everything the adds say it will do. Amazon.com had the best price I found and was shipped in a very timely manner. The video that came with the Drill Doctor is worth its weight in gold. Not only does it show you the different parts of the drill it shows you exactly how to use it.
