I use this extensively around telecom equipment and other areas where I need a flood of light. Runtime on battery pack is good, I try to have at least two packs charged and ready.
This is a very convenient product that puts out a lot of light in small spaces. While this may not seem like a big deal, wait until you find yourself in a dark attic or crawlspace and suddenly it is pitch black. Unlike an incandescent light though the fluorescent light works until the voltage drops below a certain level and then it shuts off completely. An incandescent light will simply go dim as the battery discharges.
the dewalt dc527 nicad fluorescent area light is a great product. great for working in close areas with no heat. puts out alot of light for a general area.
This light worked fine for a day and then quit. Then made the mistake of opening the unit to see if there was a loose wire- never could get it reassembled. I tried replacing the bulb to no avail.
I put a multimeter into the bulb sockets (there are 4 so I tried all combinations).no power. It was hanging under the hood throwing off light and poof.it just died. It's too bad. I bought this along with Dewalt's DW908 (which works flawlessly). One evening while working in the garage with it, it just stopped working. Nobody hit it, dropped it, etc. I called and emailed DeWalt and never got a response. I own the other light along with some of their 18V power tools and they all work great.
This light did its job and did it well for about 2 months. I changed out the battery to a fully charged one and the light would not work. giving this 1 star due to the fact that it did not last and I got no reply from DeWalt about it. I bought a replacement bulb, still nothing.
