Fortunately, an extra is included in the case. This caliper works great. I use it for many kinds of measurements where accuracy is a must. The protective case is sturdy and will protect this in the tool box or drawer. The only negative is that the first battery didn't last long.
Good product, no complaints. Keeps a zero very well. Automatically turns on when you move it.
I bought this because the price was right, but it also performs really well. Highly recommended. The digital display makes reading off a length very fast, and it's easy to zero the instrument too.
The On/Off switch is located in a position where it will activate if the caliper is in the case and the case is moved around (like during shipping). This seems to be a good product although I also received it with a dead battery. I noticed that the caliper was on when I took it out of the case the next day. I put a couple of pieces of foam in the case so that the On/Off switch cannot be activated when the caliper is jostled around in the case. That's the reason why everyone is receiving this with a dead battery.
Very good product. Only problem was original battery was dead on arrival and the spare had to be used to operate
