However, I noticed that the 9 pin connector was always very loose, and never "clicked" in place, even though I pushed the cord as far as it would go. Sure, they're cheap, but if your cable comes out accidentally without you having properly unmounted your external drive, it's highly likely that your hard drive will be corrupted. This was my first Firewire cord, and I suspect the same is true of many of the positive reviewers here. It's worth it to buy good cables. Like them, I was originally very happy with this cord. My initial thought was "Boy, Firewire really has a bad connector design."Well, after buying another Firewire cord from a more reputable source (LaCie) I discovered that Firewire cables are actually incredibly secure. Your data is worth a lot more than the few dollars saved by going with a cut-rate cable company. As far as I can tell, the connector is a bit too short on these cables, and thus they can't be inserted far enough to engage the mechanism that locks them into place (i.e.
Not much to review on a cable. It was long enough. It works.
I have a MacBook Pro and I got tired of trying to find this cord in stores - everywhere I went it was $40 or more. This was a much more affordable and just as quality and effective fix to my firewire needs.
I needed the cable. I ordered it, it arrived, and it has been working as advertised since then.
The Cable is a little loose in the back of the iMac 27". But once connected securely in place it works fine. If you're having trouble connecting your device check to see that you 800 end hasn't started working it's way out.
