User Comments about the Eureka 4870GZ Boss Smart-Vac Upright Vacuum

Item arrived promptly but I need to take it to some warranty repair shop t be fixed.

Since it is so big, it is hard to reach into smaller spaces in my apartment without using the attachments. Another small design flaw is that the electrical cord extends from the machine strangely lower to the ground than in other upright vacuums. After six months, this one still runs well and cleans very well. Great suction, cleans very well, but this vacuum is very big and very heavy. But primarily I have trouble manipulating because it so very heavy and requires a lot of arm and wrist strength. This means that you must hold the cord in one hand (so you don't run over it) while you push the heavy vacuum with your other hand. From the reviews, I knew this vacuum would be heavy, but I got it anyway because I needed to replace a convenient light-weight vacuum that did not have good suction and easily overheated.

It has all the suction, and is much easier on the pocket book. My best friend bought this too (the pet one). And she RAVES about it. It's heavy, but you get used to it. I did all the research, and took a leap of faith. It's a superior vacuum.

I had wanted a Dyson for years, but I am SO GLAD I bought this instead. I do wish it was longer in the hose section. It works fabulous on bare floors, and the power is unbelievable. Be sure to buy alot of extra bags, because you will really fill it the first couple weeks, if you vacuum daily like I do.

Never had a problem, very easy to use. Bought this in January 2008. Used it today and made me think that I should put a review on what a good, reliable workhorse this vacuum is. My one tip is to check the bag before every use and change it as soon as it is at the full line, makes a huge difference in performance. Gets very heavy use with 2 active kids, 2 hairy dogs, pool, rural setting, 3-story home with various flooring types.

Annoying. When I take the bag off the machine, a cloud of dust often shoots up into my face. I have bad allergies. Not good. I'm not impressed. I can see the dust particles as I vaccum. I have had and used this vaccum 2/week for 7 years.

It just doesn't do that thorough of a job-- and it also sucks up small rugs, and something in there is burning-- I can smell the smoke. It's very plastic-y and bulky, and parts have broken off. It's very heavy and I don't need any more of that since I am always lifting my 2 small children. Things I do like: long 30 ft cord (I can clean my whole home via plugging it in only twice), reach tool, height adjuster (to compensate for thickness of rug or bare floor) and the bags seem to fit pretty well and can acomodate a lot of dirt. I can vacuum over a spot 4times and look later, it's still not clean. Also, where the hose plugs in to the machine, this comes undone quite a bit and so I'm vaccuming and find out what I just sucked up is now back on the floor. I'm a teacher and I'd give it a C, maybe a D.

Finally, this doesn't seem particularly HEPA friendly to me.
