Compound Feature for Precise Miters and Bevels
Hitachi designed the C12LSH for versatile, easy use. The miter scale ranges between zero and 46 degrees to the left and zero and 57 degrees to the right, and a micro-miter knob lets you dial in precise angles. Additionally, positive miter stops allow you to easily change the angle of the cutting blade for creating miters in crown molding and other trim pieces.

The bevel scale ranges from zero to 45 degrees to the left and right, allowing your material to stay in place while you flip the saw head to make opposing cuts. After your major bevel angle is secured, a micro-bevel adjustment knob can be used to dial in a precise angle, while positive stops allow for quick and easy measurements and settings.

The 12-inch TCT saw blade (included) makes easy work of delicate trim and other woodwork, and the pivoting fence raises a height of 4-11/16 inches to allow for accurate vertical cutting of crown molding and other large workpieces.

Compact Slide System Requires Zero Clearance
With its revolutionary compact slide system, the C12LSH requires no rear clearance like other sliding saws. Hitachi's patented fixed rail system allows the saw head to glide smoothly along twin rails, which stay put and do not protrude to the rear of the saw. The result is a sliding saw that can be operated on a small work surface that has minimal rear clearance, such as up against a wall.

This innovative new feature is just one of the reasons that the Hitachi C12LSH was named one of the "Top 10 Innovative Tools for 2006" by Workbench Magazine, February 2006.

Laser Marker Technology and LCD for Perfect Cuts
Hitachi equipped the C12LSH with its exclusive Laser Marker System, which can be activated before the blade is in motion for exact alignment and predictable blade placement. The laser marker is easily adjustable to the left or right of the cut mark to suit your preferences, simply line up the laser with your mark on the workpiece, and the saw blade will make an exact cut along the laser guide. As long as your measurements are right, your cuts will be, too!

The C12LSH also includes an innovative LCD (liquid crystal display) that takes the guesswork out of miter and bevel readings and saves time by eliminating costly mistakes. This top-mounted digital scale swivels to provide clear and accurate miter and bevel readings from any angle.

Chock-Full of User-Friendly Features
The C12LSH has plenty of features to help you make the perfect cut the first time. To start, it has a powerful 15-amp motor that generates a no-load speed of up to 3,800 RPM to smoothly and easily cut through even the toughest hardwoods.

For precise, safe cutting, a fixed splinter guard increases safety and reduces tear-out for clean, finished cuts, and a comfortable vertical handle with a vibration-reducing elastomer grip prevents slippage and keeps you in control at all times.

The C12LSH also includes a dust bag that minimizes accumulation of dust and particles in your both your workspace and the saw's interior components, keeping your jobsite clean and prolonging the life of the tool. An added bonus, easily accessible carbon brushes will help your saw perform for the long term.

The Hitachi C12LSH measures 23-7/16 x 36-5/8 x 27-15/16 inches and weighs 66.1 pounds. Durably built, this tool is backed by an industry-leading five year warranty.

User Comments about the Hitachi C12LSH 15 Amp 12-Inch Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter saw with Laser Guide and Digital Bevel Display

Fit a finish, by far the best saw on the market for the price and above.

The saw has plenty of power. I just don't ever look at it. This saw is a monster. Dust extraction is minimal as stated by many others. I mounted it to the MSUV from Home Depot which makes it very portable. I find that the LCD has little value. Slides are ultra smooth.

It is literally huge. Stock blade is ok. For $429 at Amazon I could not go wrong. The laser is handy.

Granted, they will replace an item damaged during shipping, but consider this scenerio. Far too much trouble for an easily installed, small part. Amazon could move to the next level of customer satisfaction by expanding/enhancing their return policy options. The saw is amazing.buy it, you will not be disappointed. I bought a new knob ($28) from an online parts house and installed it myself.

As for Amazon's return policy, not so good. The mitre adjust knob broke off during shipping when the saw shifted in the box. No big deal.right. Wrong, Amazon's return policy required that I return the entire saw and they would ship me another saw.

I am surprised to find that the adjustable laser is both easy to use and dead accurate. Add to that the speed and ease of use and this thing is pushing my table saw as the most important tool in my arsenal. I kept waiting for someone from the store to come running out to the parking lot and start wrestling me for it. A gentle hand ensures zero blade wander/deflection. This rules out most universal style stands.

This is a furniture making dream come true. This brings a level of precision that would require my table saw as well as a circular and or jig saw to match. Initially I tried to mount it to a universal saw stand from DeWalt but it turns out the mounting bolt/foot print is not square. The key is to keep the blade moving. I am an enthusiastic woodworker, not a contractor so my primary use of this monster will be for furniture building.

This prevents burns and saw marks. Not a bad piece and it came with wheels. The motion must be plunge and move forward at the same time. The left fence had to be aligned but that was it. I knew the $269 could not be right but they sold it to me anyway. Mahogany, red oak, pine and some rock hard maple have all gone under the blade. I'd thought it to be an amusing toy but now I'm hooked. Being able to align it left to right means you can have it define the edge of the blade for either side.

Handles 10' boards without flexing. Solid mounting and as stable as I could hope for. I can't speak to how this would do for a contractor but it is no doubt a lifetime tool for a woodworker. The 15 amp motor is gutsy and solid. Where this beats a radial arm is in repeatability. Make cuts at any angle, return the table to zero and the cuts remain perfect.

Ultra clean, repeatable cuts from any angle/compound. Thickness up to 4". No control problems or bogging. No, it was NOT a re-built/re-furb. It was marked down from $699 to $399 and then to $269.

I returned that and went with the Hitachi recommended stand ordered from Amazon. I was lucky in the extreme and found this saw in it's box, unopened and unmolested at a local Lowe's.

The saw itself is just superb. Polished, finish ready cuts are the result.

Try that with even the best radial arm and you will be right back to the table saw to clean up those cross cuts. Rips and cross cuts are equally smooth and clean.

My hope was that it could stand in for a radial arm saw with the exception of dadoing. I immediately replaced the factory blade with a thin kerf carbide 96 tooth Freud Avanti.

Exceptional dust control is now the rule. The supplied dust bag isn't too awful but a few plumber's rubber pipe fittings allowed me to hook up my shop-vac.

I would have purchased another one but I was able to purchase this C12LSH for about the same price. The saw looks beefy and is. It's big, it's portable, but I wouldn't want to take it to a job site. Likes: The digital readout is pretty cool and works great. This saw has a tad more play at full draw than my 10" but no more than any other 12" saw I tested.

Reaction to other reviewer comments; Packaging was good, although I made sure the box was not damaged and unopened before I purchased it. The more I use the saw, the more I like it. I removed it. The reason I bought this saw was because I am extremely satisfied with with the C10FSH, Hitachi's 10" saw with slide and laser. The laser is very accurate. Making adjustments are quick, easy, and precise, especially with the fine tuning knobs. I wouldn't say the saw is bulky. Splinter guard; With it set 2 inches back, I'm not sure what good it does but throw dust in your face.

I figured I'd take a chance on a brand new larger model with a nifty digital readout. I absolutely love the one trigger operation. I think you'll be very happy with this saw as long as you make sure it's brand new in an unopened, undamaged box. Dislikes: The blade; Hitachi, shame on you.
