I unfolded it inside the container as best I could and then placed the compressor inside it with enough air space around it for ventilation, open on top. If the operating and maintenance instructions are followed, the compressor should last a long time. Also,a person could also wear ear protection if needed. I found a large plastic container 24"long 17"wide 15"high in our garage that had an old furniture moving pad in it. I purchased the compressor for my wife's use with a Upholstery stapler as well as the other standard applications.
We ran the compressor at 70psi which worked just great with our Porter Cable Fine Wire Upholstery Stapler. I just about jumped out of my skin from the noise it made the first time I turned it on. The noise level dropped at least 50%. I recommend it for occasional household projects for it's small size, and without breaking the bank. I'm sure there are plenty of creative people out there who could come up with better noisy reduction ideas at a relatively low cost.
I bought this compressor for some light duty jobs around the house and only used it occasionally, maybe once a month. This air compressor is grade A junk. Well after less than a year, it takes almost an hour to fill up the tank, so filling a truck tire became such a hassle I just gave up even turning the piece of junk on. Save your money and buy something of higher quality.
THE HEADING SAYS IT ALL. $59.95 BRAND NEW @ TSC, OTHERWISE HAVEN'T USED IT YET.
I bought another nozzle for it to use for blowing sawdust off of sanded objects. I was able to do so without issue, no leakage when applying the nozzle to the tire. If your idea of a rock concert is Neil Diamond, then yeah, maybe this unit will seem excessively loud to you. I had to laugh when I switched it on. I purchased this unit primarily to put air in automotive tires. It did this well also, although frankly a bigger tank would be better suited for any major projects, but this wasn't why I bought it. (No offense to Neil, you've had some great songs over the years buddy, and ear protection is always a good idea, but c'mon.). Regarding the loudness of operation as mentioned in other reviews, the first time out I made sure I was working in the garage with the doors up, and prepared for rock-concert volume.
I only used this product a few times to inflate my car tires and a soccer ball.and so far so good. It is nothing more or less than what I expected. I am pleased with it.
