Editorial Reviews:

When we first heard of barrel grip jig saws, we were pretty skeptical about the comfort and control they could offer, since we were so accustomed to the typical top-handle design. It really was a genuine surprise to feel the difference. The control is ama

User Comments about the Bosch 1591EVSK 6.4 Amp Barrel Grip Jigsaw

I am a homeowner who appreciates quality and buys a "step above" typical consumer products. I am no longer going to waste any more time searching for the craftsman jigsaw it replaced. I read the reviews for this item prior to purchase and I am definitely NOT DISAPPOINTED. I have only used this product twice so far but the power and ease of use was rather amazing.

This jig saw is excellent. I still plan on getting a band saw one day, but it would have to be at least a Jet, or Powermatic 1 1/2 horse before it would be more useful than this tool. It provides my small workshop with most of the functionality of a band saw without taking up the space or cash. This saw replaced a black and decker jig saw that was never really very good and also a Ryobi benchtop bandsaw.

I am very happy with this product. Thankyou. Even though the product was backordered and a slight delay in delivery occurred, I have been pleased with the work it has accomplished. I am building a workshop and it turned out that the timing for delivery was fine because of the stage of construction I was in.

My attitude was that they were mostly a necessary evil at times, but I usually did anything I could to not use one at all. I'll glue an LED on my forehead and use the Universal blades that I have for the light duty jobs that the PC can handle. It's just a very sweet machine. Maybe. So, I decided to see if there was any saw capable of doing what I wanted to do. I love this little saw.My only gripes are that it doesn't have an LED work light and it only accepts T-shank blades. All I could say was WOW.This Bosch is by far, the most capable, easiest to use jig saw that I've ever had in my hands. I have a couple of new tools that have them and they are useful at times, like when working under the kitchen counter.

Regardless, I love this little saw. That PC is a pretty nice little saw, with lots of features that I liked, such as an LED work light, but I didn't like it so much when the going got tough. I've owned and used quite a number of different jigsaws over the past 30-some years and never really liked any of them. After reading lots of spec sheets, reviews and user opinions, I decided to take a chance on this Bosch unit.It arrived a couple of days ago and I immediately put it to work on a couple tough jobs. There isn't a second or third place finisher in this race, as far as I'm concerned.

Dunno if I ever want to use the PC again, instead of this Bosch, so those blades might just turn to rust before they are ever used.Dunno why many of these top end tools don't have LED work lights. No big deal. My old one died a couple of months ago, so I bought a cheap Porter Cable. The power, control over the cuts and comfort with the barrel grip is just what the doctor ordered. Did I mention that.

I've changed my mind on jig saws.

Since I'm ahacky DIY type, it was nice that the blade is exactly 1.5 inches from eachedge of the shoe. I agree with all the positive comments, and yes, the tool gets a little warmbut not hot. Low vibtration level. Makes measuring so much easier for simpletons such asmyself. The cord is long and flexible and the case has plenty of roomfor extra blades (no shoehorning the tool and cord into it).
