As a result, their blades are greatly overpriced. Definitely not for heavy duty work. Sometimes even a new blade will cause wood to burn or smoke. As far as I know, no one else makes blades for the Multimaster. And, they don't last very long. Wish someone else would make these blades. You have to be very careful with these blades or they will dull or break.
There is no other competition out there. Fein MultiMaster FMM 250Q Top Fein is expensive, but worth the money. When you pick up the tool it has some weight to it that I translate into high quality and heavy duty. The only additional purchase from the kit was the Universal E-Cut Blade, 3 Pack. I am truely impressed by this product and have recommended this to my friends that ask what I thought about it.
I used these blades to cut 1/8th by 1 inch angle aluminum to trim stairs and wood hatch covers on a boat. It would be cool if these blades lasted a little longer but they leave such a clean finished product for metal trim that they are worth every penny. They worked so well that the shops welder and my boss both went out and bought their own multimasters.
Great tool for a narrow range of jobs. But it still costs too much and wears out too fast.
The Fein tool is a great product. These blades work fine for most jobs.
