User Comments about the GE 51107 Smart Home Wireless Alarm System Kit

Very (I mean very) loud when it goes off. Not as loud as the key padded unit but they do what they suppose to do. It never worked againThe windows alarms unit work fine so far. It arrived well packed, it was very easy to install, I try several times to arm and disarm it and it was great. The only problem is that after one week, one day in the morning, when i try to disarm it was dead. I try to replace the batteries but nothing.

It does what a $25 alarm suite is supposed to do. It is very easy to install. I just used the sticker enclosed to attach them to wood doors and Vinyl window. I've NO complaints. The sound is high enough.

My husband deployed and I was going to be all alone in my apartment for a whole year and so I got these for extra safety measures.I live in a one bedroom apartment so these are ideal for small homes.the window alarms aren't too loud but the door alarm is.and they're toy-like.it made me feel safer though because I'd be alerted if someone was breaking into my home.

I ended up using one of the three window units on my door. So, while trying to undo the mess, the male portion of the plastic backplate broke off. What kind of metal phillips head screw breaks down while you're trying to screw in the back-plate. Now, the door unit is useless to me. On the other hand the window units are just fine.

I have disconnected my $500.00 system because it doesn't work properly and I cannot get any technical support for simple programing help. This should be separate from the doors and windows. This cannot be done. Apparently, according to the company that supplies the light modules, GE printed their literature prematurely and after production they found that the modules would not work with the transformer supplied with the system. I am a licensed master electrician and although I do not install security systems for a living, I am technically inclined. Too bad, so sad. Also, there should be a delay so that when the motion sensors are activated, you have time to deactivate them prior to the alarm siren.

Getting up in the morning I don't have enough time to get across the kitchen to deactivate the system before the siren goes off and I get my ears blasted. Also, all of the literature with the Simon XT wireless system says that you can use it with alight module to turn your lights on and off remotely or with the control panel. I sent three emails to GE tech support and they never responded. Shame on you GE. GE went ahead and sold it anyway and just tells everyone that bought it that it doesn't work and they're just out of luck. I purchased the GE simon XT security system and installed it myself.

If you get up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water the alarm goes off. I know that the system can be adjusted to eliminate this problem but I cannot get help from GE. I followed the instructions closely and the system works very well with a few glitches in the programing. This is not the first time this has happened to me with a GE product. The Motion sensors should only activate when they are manually activated when going to bed at night. When I call their tech support it will not give me a live person to talk with and if you tell it you are a home owner it says to call your professional installer and then hangs up on you.

GE simply turns their back on you once they sell you a product. All I need to do is get a simple verbal instruction to set the program since this is not addressed in the instructions.
